Our story
at
Lewa

I'm Sophie, and Lewa is my home. My children are the 5th generation of the family to live here. And it was my great grandfather who started conserving Lewa's wildlife in the 1920's.
My grandparents started tourism here in the 70's, hosting people in their home. We do the same now, and what we love is witnessing how the wilderness and the wildlife touch people's lives.

Our Family
For generations we have been dedicated to wildlife conservation and offering unique experiences in this part of Kenya.
Right
The Lewa House family
With our livelihood, we work towards stewardship of Kenya's natural heritage for future generations.
My great grandfather's progressive approach to community and conservation left us with a distinctive legacy.
Proceeding generations continued to build on the foundations he laid and as the urgency to manage humanity's impact on the natural world escalates, cultivating conservation and a culture of sustainable land use, remains part of our daily lives.
I went to university in Scotland, where I met my husband Calum, who was there studying zoology. Calum went on to work in the African travel industry, and is a FGSA trained walked guide.
We made Lewa House our home in 2012.
